BSDデーモン君のオリジナルはジョン・ラセター（John Lasseter）が1988年3月22日に描いたもの。日本では、ほそかわたつみが描いたものが有名だ。脱線となるが、ラセターが監督・脚本を手掛けた映画「トイ・ストーリー」とLinuxディストリビューションのDebianには密接な関係があるので、気になる人は調べてみるといい。
